The tour started in Venice. The focus of this segment was to understand the Canal system and its underlining urban structure. Various sites were visited with this stop concluding in the Venice Biennale Exhibit located at the historic Armory site.

The Venitian Arsenale was a naval shipyard dating back to the medieval era. According to placards, this naval base was one of the most important in the world and was noted for producing some of the largest wooden ships ever created.
